Are You Prepared?
September 9, 2009
Dear visitor,
Be advised, September is National Preparedness Month!
Sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Ready Campaign and the Citizen Corps, National Preparedness Month focuses on changing perceptions about emergency preparedness. The National Preparedness Month Coalition is open to all public and private sector organizations.
Citizen Corps is a grassroots initiative headquartered in FEMA’s Community Preparedness Division. Inspired by the vast outpouring of spontaneous volunteer support after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, Citizen Corps strives to answer the essential questions “What can I do?” and “How can I help?” in a meaningful way. Citizen Corps does this by providing local opportunities for Americans of all abilities to prepare, train and volunteer to help address all types of natural and man-made hazards.
Given the deserved widespread news coverage in recent years of earthquakes, wildfires, hurricanes, tsunamis, etc., one would be hard pressed to find someone uniformed of the devastation emergencies and disasters can bring. One would be equally hard pressed to find someone in our nation not affected by an emergency whether directly or indirectly through a friend, business associate or family member.
Your friends at American Scientific Resources believe in corporate community responsibility and have a record for getting involved on activities that help protect children around the world, so when it comes to the issue of helping protect children and their families how can American Scientific Resources, Inc.—as a Health and Safety products company—ignore a reasonable call to action?
We cannot.
Therefore we asked ourselves, “What can we do?” “How can we help?” in a meaningful way?
American Scientific Resources, Inc. has pledged to devote action and resources this September to:
· Distributing preparedness information to stakeholders
· Including preparedness information in its websites, emails, and invoices
· Writing opinion editorials regarding the importance of emergency preparedness
· Participating in other activities to bring further attention to National Preparedness Month with an emphasis on family and children’s preparedness.
In order to fulfill our pledge to this most important effort we ask you for your support.
For the benefit of yourself and your loved ones, please take a few moments to become acquainted with the Ready program. We earnestly hope you’ll never need to use the information, but more importantly, we hope if you ever do need it you’ll truly be prepared. (Visit www.ready.gov for details.)
In addition, during this month of September we further request you add to all of your outgoing email one or more of the tips, paragraphs and links below. This is a public service and we know we can count on you to help spread word that can help save a life in an emergency or disaster.
On behalf of American Scientific Resources, Inc., thanks for being someone’s hero!

“I urge all Americans to take time to prepare an emergency supply kit and a family emergency plan, and to educate themselves about potential disasters. I also ask Americans to work within their own communities to coordinate emergency preparedness efforts. All Americans share this responsibility, and we must all work together to safeguard the Nation from harm. “I encourage all Americans to learn more at www.ready.gov and www.citizencorps.gov.” -President Barack Obama, White House Proclamation, September 4, 2009 |
